Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew in recent weeks has shown he needed time to settle in the English Premier League, and settle he has despite Aston Villa’s very poor form.
The former Olympique Marseille and FC Lorient player’s contribution around the pitch is just superb with an occasional touch of goal.
The 24-year-old Ghana international has won the plaudits of his Aston Villa boss Remi Garde who has backed his forward to take Villa down the road Christian Benteke of Liverpool did.
Ayew’s performance in the 1-1 draw against Southampton has called for another praise from former Liverpool captain Phil Thompson.
The Sky Sports pundit, Thompson who doubted Jordan’s abilities earlier on was full of praise of the Ghanaian forward saying after the game:
“I must say, Jordan Ayew, who I thought at times in this Villa side wasn’t good enough for the Premier League, was an absolute star today. I thought he was excellent.
“When he played on the left, he got hold of the ball and showed great pace to go forward with it.
“And then when he went down the middle, when Gestede went off, he was again excellent using his pace. All round, I think it was a very good point for Aston Villa.”
Jordan Ayew and his Aston Villa side are also looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League having not won a game since the 1-0 victory over Christian Atsu AFC Bournemouth on the opening day of the season. Manager Remi Garde who replaced Tim Sheerwood at the club is also searching for his first win in charge of the Villa Park outfit.
